The challenge
Extinguisher practice usually happens once a year, in a yard, with a generic fire. People almost never rehearse in the place where a fire could actually start.
What we built
We built a mixed-reality simulator on top of the headset’s own room scan: the stove, the electrical panel or the bin are placed where they really are, every fire has its class (A, B, C or K) and only the right extinguisher puts it out. There is an alarm, descending smoke, a power cut, exit signage and a debrief at the end. The safety technician sees live what the trainee sees and, from a web panel on the same network, chooses what catches fire and triggers the alarm or the blackout.
The outcome
The safety technician gets a tool to bring to the visit: the drill happens at the workplace, repeats as often as needed and ends with a debrief. It complements live-fire practice; it does not replace it.
